Aston Villa 1-1 Fulham

Aston Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Unai Emery made one change from the 2-1 win over Manchester City, with Leon Goretzka starting and Joao Gomes dropping to the bench.

Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring in the 39th minute, despite having work to do after Johan Manzambi's pass.

John McGinn missed an early penalty, the spot‑kick crashing onto the crossbar.

VAR spotted a handball as Goretzka's header flicked the outstretched arm of Sander Berge on its way through to the Fulham goalkeeper, and referee Sam Barrott awarded a penalty.

A howler from Zion Suzuki helped Fulham earn a 1-1 draw after the Villa goalkeeper spilled a corner behind the line, with Suzuki palming the ball into his net in the 64th minute.

The result gave Fulham four points from two games, easing pressure on boss Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Senegal striker bagged his fifth Premier League goal in five games.

Villa had early control, with Leon Goretzka heading two corners, the second going straight at Bernd Leno.

Manzambi recorded 44 touches, three in the opposition box, two passes into the final third, six defensive contributions and won five of 12 ground duels.

Villa spent £59.5 million on the Swiss star.
