Republicans Secure Florida Governor and Senate Seats as Several Congressional Races Remain Unresolved
Florida statewide races
Early projections on November 3, 2026 indicated that Republicans captured the top of the ticket in Florida. Representative Byron Donalds was projected governor‑elect, succeeding Ron DeSantis. Senator Ashley Moody won her race to retain the state’s U.S. Senate seat.
Close congressional contests in South Florida
Two U.S. House races in South Florida remained too close to call. In Congressional District 26, Republican Mario Diaz‑Balart faced Democrat Nicole Locklin. In Congressional District 27, Republican Maria Elvira Salazar faced Democrat Eliott Rodriguez.
"We are going to wait until every single vote is counted. We simply don't know. A couple of hundred votes difference between us," said Rodriguez.
Amendment 2 rejected
The Associated Press projected that Florida voters rejected Amendment 2, which would have exempted qualifying tangible personal property used for agriculture or agritourism from property taxes.
