While Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs with points—matching Michael Jordan’s record for most consecutive Game 1s with at least points—Jerome delivered a career performance off the bench. In his playoff debut, Jerome erupted for points, including in a decisive fourth quarter run that crushed Miami’s hopes of a late comeback. His sharpshooting, going 5-for-8 from three-point range, left the Heat scrambling for answers and energized the Cleveland crowd.
Miami, who reached the playoffs as the first No. 1 seed to advance from the Play-In Tournament, relied on Bam Adebayo (2 points) and Tyler Herro (2 points) to keep the game close into the final period. However, the Heat could never reclaim the lead after the first quarter, and Jerome’s scoring surge widened the gap beyond reach.
