Edina Triumphs Over Moorhead in Thrilling Class 6A Title Game

The 2025 Class 6A Prep Bowl proved to be a nail-biting showdown between the Moorhead Spuds and the Edina Hornets at U.S. Bank Stadium. The matchup, which took place on Friday, November 21, 2025, brought the season to a dramatic close with the Hornets emerging victorious in a 42-35 championship game.

The game's outcome hinged largely on the extraordinary performance of Edina senior running back Chase Bjorgaard. Bjorgaard set a record, tying the Prep Bowl's touchdown mark with six touchdowns, showcasing his prowess as a hard-charging and shifty player.

Edina's 42-35 victory over Moorhead was a testament to Bjorgaard's remarkable ability, as he amassed 320 rushing yards and four touchdowns, contributing significantly to the team's winning streak. His performance overshadowed the excellent play by Moorhead’s junior quarterback, Jett Feeney, who had a record-breaking game with 29 of 39 completed passes for 373 yards.

Despite Feeney’s impressive passing, Moorhead struggled to contain Bjorgaard, who continued to dominate the game. Bjorgaard’s performance was pivotal in securing the victory for Edina, which they achieved despite Moohead's potent passing attack. Bjorgaard scored all six of Edina’s touchdowns, including four on rushes and two on pass receptions, making him the linchpin of the Hornets' offensive strategy.

Edina's victory marked the team's first state title since 1978, when Edina West defeated Fridley 21-0 for the then-Class 2A championship. This win adds to Edina's list of fall championships, following their victories in boys soccer and girls swimming and diving, making it the third title for the school this fall and the state-record 213th overall.

Chase Bjorgaard’s performance not only secured the win but also cemented his legacy as a standout player for Edina. His ability to break tackles and score consistently showed his versatility and skill on the field. Bjorgaard's impact was so pronounced that Moorhead's defense struggled to find an effective way to stop him. This victory showcased Edina's balanced and hard-hitting approach, which was crucial in overcoming Moorhead's strategic passing game.
