Avon Football Triumphs in Second Consecutive State Championship

The Avon Eagles have once again proven their dominance in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II state football championship, securing a thrilling 37-20 victory over the Cincinnati Anderson Raptors on December 5, 2025. In a rematch of the 2024 Division II state final, Avon demonstrated their resilience and strategic prowess, particularly under the leadership of quarterback Blake Elder. Elder's stellar performance in the bitter cold of 13 degrees played a pivotal role in the Eagles' victory, showcasing his ability to thrive under pressure and lead his team to victory. The game saw the Raptors make a strong push in the second half, but Avon's early lead of 21-0 was too much to overcome. Anderson's drive inside Avon's 10-yard line in the later stages of the game was ultimately stalled, preventing a potential comeback.

The win adds to Avon's remarkable fall season, which has seen the school's teams excel in multiple sports. The football team's victory joins the school's achievements in volleyball and soccer, making it an unforgettable season for Avon athletics.
