Nebraska's New Offensive Line Coach: A Look at Geep Wade's Transition from Georgia Tech

In a swift and decisive move, Nebraska has hired Geep Wade as its new offensive line coach, replacing the recently dismissed Donovan Raiola. Wade, who has been a key figure in Georgia Tech's offensive line success, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the Huskers' program.

Raiola's tenure at Nebraska was marked by a four-year run, but the program decided to part ways with him on a Saturday, citing unspecified reasons. Immediately after Raiola's departure, rumors began to circulate about potential replacements, and Wade quickly emerged as the top candidate. Wade's appointment at Georgia Tech has been pivotal, with his units leading the ACC in rushing and ranking second in the same category in consecutive years.

Under Wade’s leadership, Georgia Tech's offensive line has not only excelled in rushing but also in protecting the quarterback, allowing a mere 0.69 sacks per game during the 2024 season. This defensive prowess, combined with his extensive coaching experience, positions Wade as an ideal choice to revitalize Nebraska's offensive line.

Wade’s track record at Georgia Tech speaks volumes about his coaching abilities. His units have consistently performed at a high level, leading the ACC in rushing in 2023 and ranking second in 2024. Additionally, his offensive fronts have been instrumental in minimizing sacks, a crucial aspect of offensive line play. Wade has also mentored several all-conference offensive linemen, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled coach.

Nebraska's decision to hire Wade was not only quick but also strategic. The program recognized the need for immediate action after parting ways with Raiola and swiftly moved to secure a coach with a proven track record. Wade's hiring is expected to bring a new level of focus and efficiency to the Huskers' offensive line, potentially turning around a unit that has shown signs of struggle in recent seasons. His experience, coupled with his successful strategies at Georgia Tech, bodes well for Nebraska's future on the field.
