Ole Miss baseball delivered a thrilling 11-9 victory over Georgia Tech on June, 2025, at Swayze Field, ending the Yellow Jackets’ season in a high-stakes NCAA Tournament elimination game. The Rebels overcame multiple deficits, taking the lead for good in the seventh inning and adding insurance in the eighth, while Georgia Tech’s late rally fell just short with the bases loaded in the ninth.
Georgia Tech’s offense came out swinging, launching four home runs—including two by Kent Schmidt—and jumping to an early 3-0 lead. Ole Miss responded immediately, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first and continuing to trade blows with the Jackets throughout the game. Despite strong performances from Drew Burress and Caleb Daniel, Georgia Tech’s pitching struggled, allowing the Rebels to capitalize at key moments.
The loss also marked the end of head coach Danny Hall’s long career at Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets wrap up their season with a 41-19 record, while Ole Miss advances in the Oxford Regional Murray State, who also competed in the regional, was eliminated earlier in the tournament.
