Tottenham Hotspur has parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou, just over two weeks after he delivered the club’s first trophy in years by winning the Europa League against Manchester United. Despite this historic achievement, the Australian coach was dismissed following a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th, their lowest-ever position, with 22 defeats over the season.
Club chairman Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board cited the need for a new direction after a thorough review of performances. While Postecoglou’s attacking style and European success were praised, the club emphasized the importance of competing strongly on all fronts, not just in Europe Postecoglou, who joined from Celtic in 2023, leaves as only the third manager in Spurs history to claim a European trophy, joining legends Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.
Attention now turns to his successor. Brentford’s Thomas Frank is emerging as the leading candidate, with Fulham’s Marco Silva also reportedly on the shortlist. An announcement on the new head coach is expected soon, as Tottenham aims to rebuild and return to Premier League contention.
