Diamond Miller led the Sun with 22 points, making 4-of-8 on three-point attempts, tying her career high. Miller has been a consistent scorer for the Sun and last night was no exception. Look, the Sun, with a record of 7-23, have had a rough season, but Miller's performance was a bright spot.
Ogunbowale and Shepard Power the Wings to victory
Arike Ogunbowale and Jessica Shepard both scored 15 points for the Wings and made 23-foot three point jumper (Alanna Smith assists) and driving layup as well. Jessica Shepard assisted on a 2-foot layup (Sug Sutton assists) and a driving layup (Arike Ogunbowale assists). The Wings used a 20-2 run in the third quarter, including a big run in the third quarter, to cruise to the victory. The Wings got the better of the Sun in the end — 83-63.
The Sun's supporting cast
Kennedy Burke added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Sun. Burke scored a 7-foot two point shot. Olivia Nelson-Ododa chipped in with 8 points and 11 rebounds, with a 4-foot two point shot (Diamond Miller assists) and a 10-foot jumper. And then — get this — Aziaha James made a 2-foot layup (Sug Sutton assists) and a driving layup (Arike Ogunbowale assists). Saniya Rivers, Nell Angloma, and Kennedy Burke also contributed to the Sun's effort. But it just wasn't enough to keep up with the Wings's dominant performance.
Remind you of anything? The Wings's performance last night was reminiscent of their 86-83 win over the Sun earlier this season, where Arike Ogunbowale was also a standout. And who knows? Maybe the Wings's performance last night was just a preview of things to come in the playoffs.
