Storm Causes Temporary Outages for About 800 San Antonio Customers

Heavy afternoon rains on Thursday temporarily knocked out power for nearly 800 CPS Energy customers in San Antonio.

Outage details

The city‑owned utility reported 41 weather‑related outages, most of them on the Northwest Side and the far North Side. By 9 p.m. Thursday, the outage count had fallen to 8, affecting 72 customers, according to CPS Energy’s outage map.

"Our crews are working to restore electric service; however, flooded roads and hazardous conditions could limit their access and delay our restoration efforts," CPS posted on X.

CPS Energy serves more than 988,000 customers.

Weather outlook

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for the entire region until 7 p.m. Friday. A second round of storms is expected to drench San Antonio overnight Thursday and could persist into Friday morning, with the forecast calling for up to 4 inches of rain.
