Luke Fahey to Start at Quarterback for Ohio State vs USC After Sayin Injury

Luke Fahey to Start at Quarterback for Ohio State vs USC After Sayin Injury

Ohio State will start true freshman quarterback Luke Fahey against USC on Oct. 31 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The decision follows a right‑arm injury to starting quarterback Julian Sayin that forced him from the game against Indiana on Oct. 17.

Sayin left the Indiana game in a sling and was listed as unavailable for the upcoming USC matchup.

Head coach Ryan Day described Sayin’s absence as “indefinitely.”

Ohio State had a bye week on Oct. 24 before returning to action on Halloween night.

Fahey earned the backup quarterback role this offseason as a 3‑star true freshman.

The Buckeyes also have former five‑star recruit Tavien St. Clair listed as the backup to Fahey for the remainder of the season.

Coaches indicated that Fahey’s “moxie” contributed to his promotion despite potential competition from St. Clair.
